So my friend A. had Jaunty loaded on a usb drive. seeing how I had 3 hours to kill before class started, I decided to take it for a test spin. These are my impressions:
wifi worked straight up
bluetooth worked straight up
when I enabled extra visual effects, it automatically detected my nvidia graphic card and installed the driver, and it ALSO installed Nvidia's "Xserver settings" application to use 2 screens and tweak my screen.

Here comes a new challenger to the free and open source software world. After RMS gave his talk at Concordia university, I began thinking about what was the difference between open source and free software that Stallman was trying to communicate to us. I talked to the teacher about it and, as my previous post says, Stallman is concerned about freedom and how it isn't a commodity to be traded or exchanged for anything, even good software while open source was all about effective software development structures. Well, an Ars Technica article I just read has added something to my perception.
I remember when I first saw the Samsung F300, looking at that tiny screen, and thinking: This is it. Someone finally go it right. A phone that was just a phone. I ignored it's hefty size (considering it could not display any media) because it was such a refreshing step in the right direction for me... Until I turned the thing over and realized what kind of monstrosity I was actually holding...

Unbelievable, every time I find myself with some free time to kill during the day, I find myself in possession of a small novel I already read while on transit to and from school!
geez.
This week, Richard Stallman, creator of the Free Software Foundation and the Gnu licenses, came to my university to give a talk on FSF, share his ideas, and answer questions at the end. Attendees numbered in the 100 range, it was free and it was a small and humble talk that I appreciated very much. What I took away from this talk, or at least what stuck with me the most, was RMS' absolute disdain with the open source world.
My venture into the great world of the wii remote and openframeworks comes to a nice pit stop today. I've finished a 3rd revision of the program.
The app runs on openframeworks version 0.05 which is as of today the latest publicly released version. What my app does is it uses the Cwiid library and a fake key input library to create a remote for using the wii for the computer.
damn straight - I'm feeling gooood =] My multi-touchscreen project is coming along well, so that's something for me to feel good about. One of the websites I am building is also coming close to code completion. School is, so far, going really well. None of my classes require me to do weekly updates on odd blogs for their course. No, these classes can just *gasp* evaluate my work! I also hear a contract might swing my way for some SEO work which is good timing because I need the money.
